About MikumiNationalPark.com

An independent guide to Tanzania’s most accessible safari park, written for people fitting a safari into a beach holiday or a short stay in Dar es Salaam.

MikumiNationalPark.com exists because the choice is confusing. There are dozens of near-identical “Mikumi day safari” listings, prices that range from under €200 to nearly €2,000, flights, ferries and a brand-new railway. This site is an independent travel guide to Mikumi National Park and the parks around it — written to be genuinely useful before you book and while you are there.

We are not the park. This is not the official website of Mikumi National Park or of Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA). For official tariffs, regulations and bookings of park-run accommodation, contact TANAPA directly.

What we cover

  • How to get to Mikumi from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Morogoro, with realistic journey times.
  • Which safaris are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
  • What you will — and will not — see, without overselling the wildlife.
  • Where to sleep, from park lodges to city hotels.
  • When to come, what it costs and how to combine Mikumi with Udzungwa, Nyerere and Ruaha.

How we research

Journey times, fees and seasonal patterns are checked against the park authority, operators and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide; hotel scores come from Trip.com. Where a figure moves — park fees, train times, prices — we give an approximate amount and tell you to check, rather than pretend to a precision that does not exist.

Where we express an opinion, it is an opinion. We tell you when a day trip is mostly travelling, when a listing has no reviews yet and when the cheaper option is the better one.

How the site is funded

We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and a Trip.com partner. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only way this guide is funded — there is no advertising, no sponsored placements and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Fees change, timetables change, lodges change hands. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it. Write to us via the contact page.
